O estudo de 2016 da City Branding Portugal coloca Ponta Delgada em 21º lugar no ranking dos 308 municípios portugueses para “visitar”, tendo subido 2 lugares, em relação ao ano anterior. Ponta Delgada continua a subir entre os 25 melhores municípios nacionais na procura de quem visita Portugal para o lazer, o que reforça a especial vocação deste concelho para o Turismo.
Nos Açores, Ponta Delgada é o município nº 1 na opção "Visitar", mas, também, nas categorias de "Viver" e "Negócios".
